Long term protection: Kordon offers long-term termite protection to new buildings, and also acts as a moisture vapour barrier when installed under a concrete on ground flooring. It can be used in wall cavities, against retaining walls, around plumbing penetrations, infill and raft slabs and other types of constructions to form an impenetrable barrier against subterranean termites.

Kordon is a totally Australian made product, developed to suit local conditions. It had been extensively tested by the CSIRO - ABSAC, the Australian Pest Control Industry and is manufactured and accredited by Bayer Environmental Science in Australia. The Kordon termite barrier system is universally accepted by Local Councils and meets the requirements of the Building Code of Australia and AS3660.1 the Termite Protection Standard for New Buildings.

Kordon TMB - how it protects a building

Kordon is made of a geotextile fibrous webbing containing a termiticide chemical, ie deltamethrin, which is sandwiched between 2 sheets of plastic. Deltamethrin is highly repellant to termites and will kill them on contact.

Unlike alternatives on the market, Kordon is easy to install with a higher margin for error. Yet it is highly effective termite barrier product.

If for example, the termites entering the lower reaches of a wall cavity from minute gaps in brickwork or in ground footings, and attempt to go around or through the Kordon barrier in the wall cavity, those termites that come close to the deltamethrin webbing edging will be repelled. If they persist, Kordon will kill the termites as they attempt to pass through the Kordon material.

Kordon is a powerful termite and moisture barrier solution fully permitted in compliance with the Building Code of Australia, with CSIRO-ABSAC Appraisal that it meets necessary performance requirements as a deemed-to-satisfy termite control product.

Relevant BCA deemed-to-satisfy provisions are in accordance with AS 3660.1 Protection of Buildings from Subterranean Termites - New Buildings and AS 2870 Residential Slabs and Footings.
